![]() Air Force Junior ROTC Greetings from IL-963! Summer's here and school is out! Let's have parades, picnics, and fireworks! Here’s our schedule for the next two months. JUNE 02 - Unit Reps to Quad City Air Show JULY 04 - Color Guard to Independence Day Celebration And here's what we've been up to since our last update . . . Our first event for May was our annual blood drive. Traditionally, we have always hosted this at the mall; this year we conducted the drive at the school. By the end of the day we had netted over 40 units of blood for the Red Cross. The next day (May 8), the color guard posted the colors for the student council inauguration. Once the flags were positioned, the Star Spangled Banner was sung. Following the national anthem, the student body recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Our color guard posted the colors for Senior's Honor's Day on May 15. The student body of PHS received over $700,000 in scholarships and awards. Of that, Cadet T.J. Moore received over $350,000. Congratulations T.J.! The color guard posted the colors for graduation on May 23. The five member team posted the U.S., state, and school flags. The student body paused for a moment of silence for Cadet Gerrick Porter for a final salute. Our color guard observed Memorial Day with several events. First we went to Washington to march in their parade and take part in their ceremony at the cemetery. Then we came back to Peoria for some fun, wellness activities that included bowling and mini-golf. Finally, we raised the flag for an outdoor concert at Glen Oak Park's amphitheater by the Peoria Symphony Orchestra. Please remember our schedule is subject to change without notice.
